現在已經不是過去那種殖民帝國的時代，原料的掌握不需要靠軍事上的佔領和掠奪，市場就看兩國國內市場的規模再加上一些關稅同盟或地緣政治結盟(一帶一路？TPP ?)。生產成本或技術，就看兩國的產業鏈的完整度和生產成本誰比較有競爭力。
美國在國際政治上，向來是靠軍事結盟和國際組織等上層結構，由上而下地影響全球各個國家經濟和政治。中國則反之，靠的是各種人民交流和經貿往來，綿綿密密地建構起各種關係網絡，利用的是下層結構，走鄉村包圍城市的傳統方針。如今，美國自拆舞台，能不能重新建立起一個唯美獨尊的新上層結構，令人存疑。中國則是走下層結構的路子也走到了一個瓶頸，澳洲就是個典型的例子，中國也得要開始在上層結構搭台唱戲，發揮影響力，一帶一路是個不錯的提議，只是官僚和國營企業的執行力令人詬病。但，真正決勝負的，還是要看兩國民營企業，誰能在新的時局中成為浴火凰鳳，才能真正脫穎而出。
台灣靠哪一邊都有機會撿到掉下來的果子，但是，儘量不違背20年以上的大趨勢，好讓下一代的人不用做出重大的國策調整就可以繼續順風順帆地一路高歌，才是當代主政者應念玆在玆之事。
