Any suggestion on Manfrotto tripod? small, portable, hold 1Ds.
I can not add any more bags. I am only allowed a normal luggage, plus a tiny small wheel 18 inch luggage provided by the company. They told me a camera bag, I am stretching it to fit all my camera equipment. I hope they don't make me give up my camera equipment before boarding.
This trip does cost alot of money. Roughly estimate trip cost, visas (exclude other expenses) about NT 1,800,000. I hope you all understand that is still alot of money for me. I do this because I believe I can still afford it and timing is right. I figure if I don't do this right now, I may never get chance to do it. At least not until my daughters grow up and leave us. One can always work and make money, but this once-in-a-lifetime trip experience is hard to get. Timing is everything. I am grateful and thankful to my wife for letting me go on this trip. I really wish she can come with me, but she prefer to travel with younger people close to our age and she is busy working on other projects.
Anyway, I hope to prepare myself ready for this trip. Photo opportunity should be plenty for me. I just hope I bring everything I needed and leave unecessary items at home.

資深公民團阿....，老外真是有毅力，偶們這邊的資深公民團都是去不花體力的地方....
另一點我剛剛計算錯誤的是尊夫人並沒有要隨你去，如此的話，如果不拍人文只拍風景建築，你可以考慮拿掉閃燈，畢竟 580EX 也會佔掉攝影包的位置，三腳架的話我使用 Velbon 237，這是個小型鋁架，可惜負重只到兩公斤，多少可以撐我的 5D + 35L，要撐 1Ds + 小白 IS 就可能會比較吃力一點，我記得板上有人分享過 Manfrotto 的小碳腳，請您多爬文一下了。
您的路線蠻有趣的，要是在台灣說世界一週應該完全不會是這些行程才對，不過因為涉獵的地區非常廣，從古建築、人文到野生生態，所以難以取捨。我的建議還是改用 16-35L，廣角拍柬埔寨你可以看一下奧伯伯的作品，我覺得類似的手法與場景安排在你去的很多地方都可以使用喔，他用的廣角似乎是 20/2.8。
PS. 說到拍動物，我常在 Bronx 動物園看到老外拿 1DMk2 + 100-400 在拍 (小女很喜歡動物園，所以我們常去)，借過一次看，斑馬頭都可以暴框...，他們也對我拿 5D + 35L 拍動物園覺得很好奇，不過我拍的是家人.....

看著這些行程，其實都是我夢寐以求、朝思暮想的旅遊景點呀

Trust no one...
Usually I take family photos esepcially two kids. That is why my favorite lens is 85 1.2. It makes photo special. My wife always tell me "if you want to take photos, take photos with people in it, like your family. if you want to take photos without people, it usually is not better than post card." I hardly get chance to take tripod on any family trip. It is always hand held. This trip is different than what I normally shoot.
If I can not find a small light weight tripod, I will just remove the flash to keep the weight down.
What do you think of the new 50 1.2L? They will still be opportunities for local children. I feels more comfortable shooting at around 50-75 range. That is why I usually use 24-70 or 85. I sometimes use 70-200 taking photos of my kids running around. It gives a special effect and photos looks more natural. They don't have to put up smiley faces.

不過依你去的行程大致看來, 有高海拔, 又有酷熱 (特別是西藏我去年八月才去...)
行程在多天內又得多次搭機.......適應時差變化
個人認為還是盡量簡單而機動性高一些好
我2006年8月跟團去西藏十七天
雖然主要都是撘巴士或吉普車
每個點走路距離大致來說不會太長
前幾天還背得很有勁
到後來四五天還是慢慢疲乏了
倘若一機二鏡
我會建議廣角定焦(或變焦) + 涵蓋標準- 望遠端的變焦
因除了拍大草原上的動物外
呼應上頭敗家怪醫網友的論點
廣角鏡對這些古蹟, 建築, 原野........使用上會較有發揮空間
如果只想帶一鏡
我寧可選涵蓋廣角- 標準端的鏡頭
第二台機身我不太建議帶
如果搭車時程很長, 每個地方又不必走太久, 你又生怕錯失美景而想多帶....則例外
以我自己為例
如果再有機會作長途長期旅遊
第二機我可能會配輕便底片機(定焦), 或是輕便變焦的DC就好
主力還是用自己用得最順手, 自認為拍攝效果最佳的機子

580EX我想還是必須的...有燈總比沒燈好
腳架請選擇gitzo二號腳......最少也要一號,不過一號腳要三節的....就是你了!!1127!!
不然就是VELBON的530或是640....
饅頭的腳架比較不建議.....因為他非常的重
我想背包你應該慎重考慮,可以用雙肩式背包,kata新款不錯背負性頗佳.
不然可以考慮lowepro 的rover系列.......就是你了!可調整背負重心的rover plus AW!!
不過更理想的是大兔+16-35+50 1.4 +小白IS+580EX就是了......
24-70實在是太大了....那個遮光罩要收很麻煩...

1Ds + 16-35 + 70-200，然後帶小型桌上型腳架或單腳。
外閃帶一顆430EX或PE-28。
主要是覺得﹝"超廣角"的視覺震撼﹞與﹝"長焦"的小視角特寫﹞，
而中間標準焦段部份，與其要帶那顆一公斤24-70L的話，
倒不如帶一台口袋型DC，或G-RD之類的來取代。
桌腳可以架在大石頭或某些水泥平台上來增加高度，
收起來時又能放在包包裡，很方便。
單腳....長曝可能就不行了，但某些單腳底下有三個支柱的，
不知能不能撐得住。主要是"單腳"可以比"三腳"輕一些。
關於那個腳架釣竿袋，是我之前PO的﹝分享一個小東西﹞，
那是剛好符合我手上的饅頭685B用的，三月底我才要帶出國，
目前還沒實際帶出場，也不知出國的場合會遇到哪種狀況。
只是覺得685B的手把一按，就能迅速拉開腳架固定在170cm以內
任何高度，非常方便，機動性也夠。
我沒有1Ds之類的高等機身，只有一台350D和400D，
所以三月份這趟出國打球時，我也一直在考慮
只帶400D+小小白IS一機一鏡，然後捨棄標準焦段的17-55 IS，
改用口袋DC來取代，畢竟球桿就已經夠重了，
而那個685B腳架袋就插在球桿旁，
和雨傘綁在一起托運行李。
出門旅行總是希望能盡量權衡攜行的質與量，
所以在﹝超廣角﹞﹝標準﹞﹝長焦﹞這三個區段，
我自己的想法頃向於比較特殊的兩端極限，
然後捨棄中間標準段，改用消費DC權宜。
只是個想法....
