Oppo N1 smartphone launches Dec 10th for $599 (Color OS or CyanogenMod) Oppo has announced that starting December 10th you’ll be able to pick up an Oppo N1 in the US for $599. It’ll sell for €449 in Europe.
CyanogenMod is also a custom version of Android — but it’s one that started its life as a tweaked version of Android Open Source Project software developed by hobbyists. Earlier this year the lead developers formed a company and started looking for hardware partners to team up with, and Oppo is the first.
The CyanogenMod software looks a lot like the stock version of Android you’d get on a Nexus phone, but it includes more customization options, performance tweaks, and a few custom apps. Out of the box, the version of CyanogenMod that will come with the Oppo N1 will not include root access, but it will be possible for users to root their devices manually.
