Owners of BMW R1200 and R1250 models are starting to receive letters in the mail informing them of an unusual addition to the maintenance schedule of the K5x series. Driveshafts will now be checked and regreased every 12,000 miles and replaced every 36,000 miles, all at no charge to owners.
For many years, riders of BMW R1200 and R1250 models, including inmates, have complained about premature driveshaft failures. BMW has been investigating and attempting to address this problem for some time. They have been adding one-way rubber vent valves to Paralever assemblies to combat condensation inside, thought to cause corrosion and premature failure. In 2022, BMW issued a service bulletin to examine driveshafts on these bikes and install vent valves. This investigation likely led to the latest development in this saga, where BMW has taken upon itself the routine inspection and replacement of driveshafts in the affected models.

我知道我見過有關 R1250GSA 上的 U 形接頭故障的討論,但我怎麼也找不到它們。
今天下午早些時候,我在南達科他州斯特吉斯加了油,沿著34 號高速公路向東行駛。在車道中間。在不到 20 秒的時間裡,噪音的音量迅速增大,從幾乎無法察覺到震耳欲聾,此時我真的以為我的後輪胎癟了。我把車停在路邊,讓機車慢慢停了下來。我跳下車,瞧,兩個輪胎都已充氣了。
就在那時,我注意到 U 型接頭護罩(前 U 型接頭)冒出煙霧。我從左邊的包包裡拿出水壺,準備滅火,但那團亂七八糟的東西自行冷卻了,才沒有再搞得亂七八糟。
快速前進七個小時,我就坐在斯特吉斯的 Super 8 摩托車上,機車就在斯特吉斯賽車運動的拐角處。非常非常感謝皮埃爾韋格納汽車公司的出色拖車司機。更不用說寶馬路邊援助了,他們盡一切可能搞砸了拖車的協調(即使我給了他們精確的緯度/經度,他們也絕對無法得到我的正確位置。
經銷商說,如果只是傳動軸,他們可能會有一個。所以我的問題是,這種可能性有多大?具體來說,萬向接頭損壞導致輸出軸上的軸承損壞的可能性有多大?
I know I have seen discussion on failures of the u-joints on the R1250GSA, but for the life of me I can't find them.
Early this afternoon, I fueled up at Sturgis, SD and headed east on Hwy 34. About 1.5 hours out, I heard the onset of a noise similar to driving over a rumble strip... but I was in the middle of the lane. The noise quickly increased in volume from barely perceptible to in-your-face over less than 20 seconds, at which point I really thought I had a flat rear tire. I pulled over, letting the bike coast to a stop. I hopped off, and lo, both tires were inflated.
That's when I noticed the smoke emanating from the u-joint boot (front u-joint). I pulled my water canteen from the left pannier, and prepared to extinguish, but the mess cooled itself without further nastiness.
Fast forward seven hours, and here I sit at the Super 8 in Sturgis, the bike is 'round the corner at Sturgis Motorsports. Many, many thanks to a fantastic tow driver from Wegner Auto in Pierre. And not so many thanks to BMW roadside assistance, who did everything possible to screw up coordinating the tow (they absolutely could not get my location right, even after I gave them precise lat/long.
The dealer says that if it is the driveshaft only, they probably have one. So my question is, how likely is that? Specifically, how likely that the u-joint going bad has buggered the bearing on the output shaft?

錯,是從水冷R引擎開始爛⋯傳動軸就變消耗品,我R1150R的Oilhead就沒人抱怨這問題
而是越做越爛……


Airhead engines (1923-1992),Oilhead engines (1993-2005),Hexhead engines (2005-2009),Camhead engines (2010+),Wethead engines (2013-2018)

萬向接頭的軸承是壓死的,軸承壞了就換整支驅動軸driver shaft(DS)。

這個萬向接頭不是標準品,這個軸也是鍛造的。
大同公司普通馬達(小馬中心)的軸就是鍛造的,馬達廠的德國鍛造汽鎚就在我的衝床廠區隔壁,兩個廠區都是地震區,機器都在衝擊,地面都在跳,所以特別放在一區,我們還有全台灣最大的500噸油壓衝床沖壓縮機外殼和軍用鋼盔。
我在大同公司冰箱壓縮機中心-設計課。

我堵爛的是,BMW能夠做好,但是就是不做好,BMW不知道在搞什麼東西。
都是軸驅動,之前老車都沒有這個問題。
難怪ABB汽車廠都要倒了。

Wethead水冷式汽缸頭與Hexhead汽缸頭和Camhead汽缸頭一樣,DS 內建有緩衝驅動器。我還沒有見過失敗的案例,但這肯定是有可能發生失敗的。
The wethead has the cush drive built into the DS like the Hexhead and Camhead. I have not seen one fail, but it is certainly possible.

是現行的水冷R1200/R1250全系列都有這問題,R1300則不知道。
我是一買回來就拆開塗上黃油避免生鏽,因此到賣車時都還OK!

這軸屍體還在,總覺得依照台灣機械加工能力,維修應該不是很困難?
