大家好。我從小就是個gamer、歐美稍有名氣的作品我幾乎無所不知,Steam帳號裡大約有300款遊戲。再加上我英文不錯,從好幾年前開始就在外國網站瀏覽、討論各種歐美遊戲界的訊息。我自認為我對歐美遊戲產業的了解比大多數的台灣玩家多。
因此,我想要以歐美遊戲的外商公司為目標下去努力。尤其是歐美遊戲在台灣的翻譯品質一向差強人意,我希望有一天能在這方面有所貢獻。
我唯一知道在台曾有分公司的只有EA和Blizzard,而EA幾年前收掉了。請問台灣還有其他相關的外商嗎?

三國無雙和快打旋風都是日產的,而且他們屬於純遊樂的類型(英文稱arcade games),藝術價值低,所以無翻譯需求。但歐美很多重劇情的遊戲,文字加對話數量有的多達數萬句,遠勝電影的對話量。且近年漸漸有遊戲在娛樂價值外探討人性、戰爭等議題;或是呈現出水準極高的藝術設計等,都讓遊戲漸漸趕上電影及文學的地位,具有可被稱作藝術的潛能。
因此,遊戲絕對值得高水準的翻譯。可惜電玩遊戲現在在臺灣被多數人定位為屬於社會低階人士的娛樂,所以現今似乎沒有高品質翻譯的需求。非常的可惜阿!
至於日本A片跟這似乎沒什麼關聯,不知道你提這個做什麼?

I think it might be easier if you try to produce your own game and sell to the English market.
The gaming industry is going through a change. 20 years ago, with the popularity of civilization, doom, quake, warcraft, dune 2, and many other notable games, allowed many independent game shops to prosper. 10 years ago, industry has already consolidated, even the vaunted Origin systems (produced games since Apple II era, with Ultima series, rescue raiders, and many other great classic games) was sold to EA). Games become more focused on art, animation, special effects and less emphasis on playing content.
A few years ago, even the popular Blizzard was sold, Blizzard was the last remaining game company that was more interested in producing a good game, than chasing after deadlines and profits, such as EA, Sierra, Activision, Origin, and many many others.
A couple years ago, with iOS and android gaining popularity, and also web based browser free to play games gaining popularity, big games, with big budget, is in trouble. Big game companies start to lay off people.
This is by no means a complete history of computer gaming, just a small glimpse of the changes. Taiwan is not a big market, unfortunately, so it might be more difficult for you to find game translation job.

翻譯這幾年已經變化很大了,像是GTA5您有玩過嗎?翻譯已經非常順且充分的在地化式翻譯。又PS3太空戰士系列進來也都是中文版,翻譯也都不錯了,對於玩家來說這種程度的翻譯,很好了。
其他遊戲,您口中的娛樂遊戲,比較沒內涵的遊戲,大陸的遊俠網,3DM翻譯人材多多,翻譯品質雖然不好,但是勝在速度,尚堪理解。且這種娛樂遊戲才是比較受歡迎,大眾喜愛,接受度高的,例如無雙,戰地風雲等。
至於您所說的歐美大型RPG遊戲(暗黑,上古,伯德之類的大作),豐富內涵,但是臺灣人對於此類歐美遊戲接受度似乎不夠。大陸那邊坦白說入正的機率又更低了。
更遑論現在是手機遊戲,小型遊戲的天下了,花大錢製作遊戲,還不如做弄海量小遊戲出來,只要有個能像龍族拼圖,神魔之塔,憤怒鳥,植物僵屍一樣紅,就賺翻了。
