Raptors used to be a top three team as a true contender before JV's left thumb's injury. Now they are only top ten team after the trade, what a step-back trade by Masai Ujiri, the Raptors organization will be regretted in the decade.
Passing and three point shooting percentage are the only areas upgraded by the additon of Marc Gasol, however, other areas such as low post scoring, screen setting, field goal percentage, rebounding, team chemistry, swagger, rim protection, speed, athleticism, youth, all take a step back after the JV trade.
Gasol will be making 25 millions if he exercises his player's option next year as expected, it will put the Raptors organization a huge step-back as their three years window along with the expiring contracts in Lowry, Ibaka, FVV.
JV will decline his player's option and become free agent while targeting around 22-25 millions per year contract, while Wright's market price is around 8 millions, Miles will exercise his player's option at 8 millions.
Most importantly, due to teams' cornerstones age factors, Kawai Leonard's resigning chance is now less than 40%, comparing to the beginning of the season above 80% with no weaknesses at all (except three point shooting percentage) when they all complement one another pretty well as a complete team.
JV > Gasol
Wright > Lin
Miles > Meeks
Greg Monroe > Eric Moreland
Bocher/Miller/Loyd obviously not there yet
only Patrick McCaw is a fine signing
