The Lakers have fired Mike Brown as coach after a 1-4 start, his agent told USA Today.
And so ends the Brown era, and hopefully the Princeton offense, in L.A. The news comes not long after a report that Brown's job hinged on an upcoming six-game homestand. Clearly, Lakers owner Jerry Buss was not in the mood to wait for a turnaround. According to K.C. Johnson, Bernie Bickerstaff will coach the Lakers against the Warriors on Friday night, although Brown's replacement has yet to be named. We doubt this news will have a big impact on the Lakers' starting five, but Antawn Jamison could be used a little more under a new coach.
