Outraged Dallas Fans Boycott Mavericks After Blockbuster Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis Trade

While Laker fans are ecstatic for the most part, landing arguably one of the top 3 best players in the entire league as he enters his prime, the opposite can be said for Mavericks fans. Many are distraught at the thought of giving up the face of their franchise for an aging center who has dealt with injuries and struggled to stay on the court throughout most of his career.

It appears that many of these Dallas fans are starting to boycott the team after the move, as well. For proof, look no further than the fact that the Mavericks' Instagram account has seen a massive fall-off in terms of followers since the trade took place.

Originally at 5.3 million followers on Saturday afternoon, that number has dropped to 4.6 million as of Sunday morning. That's a loss of 700,000 followers/fans in a matter of hours

Luka's dad rips Mavs: He 'doesn't deserve this'

Luka Doncic avoided mentioning the Mavericks organization in his farewell message Sunday, instead thanking fans and the Dallas community after being traded to the Lakers.

Doncic's father, however, did not hold back when discussing the Mavericks and their handling of the blockbuster deal.

"I understand there comes a moment when you disagree with a certain philosophy," Sasa Doncic said, as translated by Arena Sport. "You don't like this or that player, all good -- I get it.

"But I think that exactly this secrecy, or should I say from some individuals, maybe even hypocrisy, this hurts me personally. Because I think that Luka absolutely doesn't deserve this."

Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison cited Davis' superior defense as a reason for the trade, saying "defense wins championships," while acknowledging that Doncic's upcoming contractual situation also was a concern.

Sasa Doncic pointed to the Mavs' 2023-24 season, when his son played in 70 regular-season contests and averaged 37.5 minutes per game, before playing in an additional 22 postseason games and averaging 40.9 minutes per game during Dallas' run to the NBA Finals.

"[Luka's conditioning] wasn't even a problem last year since, I am saying again, one individual said he's not fit enough," Sasa said. "That he played, I don't know, 100 games -- practically 40 minutes with two or three players constantly on him.

"That he was beaten, and you say such things about him -- I feel that this is very unfair from certain individuals. You traded him, stand by your actions but don't look for excuses or alibis, that's it."

The Dallas Mavericks traded guard Quentin Grimes to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Caleb Martin, it was announced on Tuesday.

Philadelphia is also receiving a second-round pick -- the 76ers' own pick in 2025 -- in the deal.

防守 3 D 比較香！

Still, Martin is an unexpected target. Having traded Doncic, Dallas seemed more likely to go after another ball handler to supplement Kyrie Irving and veteran Spencer Dinwiddie. This deal suggests the Mavericks believe in Jaden Hardy filling that role and saw the wing position as a bigger need.

Dallas Mavs：收集三個副皇，如何爭冠？

1 個四冠勇士的二當家、1 個湖冠的二當家，再加上騎冠的二當家，滿到冠軍 DNA，怎麼爭冠？

怎麼在三個副皇下，產生了最大的爭冠動力？我覺得唯有靠 Jason Kidd 的戰術運用。第一得分點，無庸置疑，就是 Anthony Davis。Kidd 該把他的場均控在 30 分以上。其次，就是給 Kyrie Irving 無限開火權。

這三個古代兵器曾一起在 2014 年的世界杯合作過，當時，Irving 獲選為 MVP。而 2016 年的里約奧運，Irving 也跟 Klay Thompson 有同隊拿金。

綜觀獨行俠的陣容，很需要的就是 Davis 要的中鋒，可惜的是傷兵名單當中，中鋒群就是傷兵。

目前關於中鋒群的消息是：

Gafford (shoulder) will be available to play Thursday against Boston.

Powell (hip) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Celtics.

最大的幫手是 The Mavericks announced Wednesday that Lively will be re-evaluated in four weeks after being diagnosed with a right ankle stress fracture.歸期未定，希望別動刀。

其次，誰 Irving 的後場幫手？Spencer Dinwiddie？Max Christie ？Dante Exum ？從前一場看，Exum 主控的機會大，畢竟是防守球員。

原本的先發 P.J. Washington 就淪為第六人，幫手還有 Naji Marshall、Caleb Martin 和 Jaden Hardy，算是人手齊全。

問題還是回到了 Jason Kidd 怎麼用三大副皇，首要工作就是讓 Anthony Davis 當上進攻主軸，也讓 Irving 打得如魚得水。第三個副皇 Klay Thompson 的雷太大，很難看他吃飯。

Dallas Mavs：湯神成最冏之男，Luka 走，Kyrie 、A.D 倒！

勇士在找來吉巴狼後，吃了大補丸。Luka 去了湖人後，也幫助湖人大越進。

Klay Thompson 原本以為抱到最大團，結果，兩頭空。沒能參與到勇士隊的爭冠列車，也少了 Luka 和 Kyrie 這兩個球星來搶季後賽。

A.D 本季也許能歸隊，但來得及嗎？說真的，Jason Kidd 也是受害者，明明有兩大咖的存在，現在，一個都沒了，左看右看，只剩 Klay Thompson。

賽前還有 9 名，但，The injury-ravaged Mavericks entered the game with only nine available players, three of whom suffered injuries Sunday afternoon, including two on the same play when Edwards and center Dwight Powell collided heads while chasing a rebound. Powell, who received seven stitches to close a gash in his forehead, and guard Brandon Williams (hamstring tightness) didn't return.
