The Houston Rockets are hiring Chip Engelland as a new assistant coach on Ime Udoka's staff, sources tell ESPN. Engelland -- well-regarded in player development and shooting speciality -- spent the last four seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder after a 17-year run in San Antonio (2005-2022) where he built a relationship with Udoka.
Chip Engelland (Coaching)
1999–2000 Detroit Pistons (assistant)
2003–2005 Denver Nuggets (assistant)
2005–2022 San Antonio Spurs (assistant)
2022–2026 Oklahoma City Thunder (assistant)
2026– Present Houston Rockets (assistant)
As assistant coach
3× NBA champion (2007, 2014, 2025)
Chip Engelland
