Perhaps in Australia, or New Zealand, but in other countries, such as Britain, or America, it would be better understood to say, “how’s it going”. Unless you’re asking someone, “How are you going?”, if they’re actually travelling somewhere.
“Tomorrow I am going to London”
“How are you going?”
“By train!”
In the context of asking someone how they are, however, “How are you doing?” would be more usual. “How are you going?” does sound a little like a direct translation from another language.
