法國吹哨者揭露，中國台山核電廠燃料棒破損數高達70多根，遠超出先前公布的數量，這些破損不僅出自操作上的原因，且很可能是鍋爐設計失誤所致。
台山核電廠是由法國電力集團（EDF）和中國廣核集團（CGN）的合資企業─台山核電合營有限公司（TNPJVC）營運，法國電力集團握有3成股份。
法國國際廣播電台（RFI）報導，中國廣東台山核電站一號核反應堆今年7月因發生核燃料棒破損，而被迫停止運作。核反應堆可能出現故障的訊息首先由法國電力集團在美國子公司披露，之後法國電力集團才出面對此事件作出回應。
當時，法國電力集團與廣東核電部門聲稱，台山核電站核反應堆內燃料棒包裹層出現破損，可能是出自製造、運輸或操作上的原因，破損燃料棒總數符合正常的允許範圍。
然而，一位法國核電部門工作人員近日向法國獨立核能安全組織「法國核輻射獨立研究與訊息委員會」（CRIIRAD）披露，台山核電站破損燃料棒數遠多於公布數字，且不僅僅是操作上的原因，且很可能是鍋爐設計失誤所致。

英文維基中還有另一段話--"A 2010 study of workers directly involved in the cleanup—and thus expected to have seen the highest exposure rates—found no significant long term health effects from their involvement."
就是根據後續的流行病學追蹤研究(50年)，在接受最多劑量的清理工作人員中，看不到長期的健康影響。
溫斯喬和漢福德都是核武生產基地，而且是從核子時代開創時期就有的，在知識、技術不足及戰爭時間壓力下，產生對環境的汙染，不能拿來直接跟核電比較。
