配合我之前解釋過的部分，將會發現APA之所以要修改用詞主要是來自於避免使用"性傾向sexual orientation"這格詞，這個跟天賦人權有關的字詞，因為一方面這部分會跟法律上認定是否為犯罪行為有關：
