原文是下面這樣，其實，發射AIM-120C，是在快要發射AIM-9X之前，而AIM-9X是以helmet mounted display (HMD)確認目標，攻擊另一架靶機，之後，成功完成擊落試驗(achieving the first F-35 Air-to-Air kill or “Boola Boola")。
換言之，飛行員事先發射AIM-120C對付目視不到的目標，再用mission systems sensors & HMD 確認另一目標，發射IM-9X。二架靶機均解決。

把便宜的AIM-9X去打下靶機，貴的AIM-120C因為想省下靶機，所以讓飛彈自爆。
