What's funny is things that are made in Taiwan are often more expensive in Taiwan than they are in other countries. I think it comes down to the size of Taiwan and the lack of people with much disposable income in Taiwan. Taiwan is small and not many people can afford luxury items so merchants try to make more per item than in many other places. If someone wants a 4 GB MD in Taiwan they will pay for it regardless of the cost, but a merchant in the US can double his sales by selling at a slightly lower profit margin but still make more in the end due to the increased sales.
