Porsche is expanding the Cayenne SUV lineup for the 2013 model year with the addition of a turbocharged V6 diesel. Porsche announced the new model on Tuesday prior to the start of the New York auto show. The diesel Cayenne will have a base price of $56,725 including shipping charges.
The diesel V6 comes from Porsche parent company Volkswagen. In the Cayenne, it is rated at 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Porsche says the diesel engine will push the all-wheel-drive Cayenne from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, and it delivers a top speed of 135 mph. The engine is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
Porsche estimates that the diesel Cayenne will be rated at 20 mpg city/28 mph highway/23 mpg combined fuel economy. A 22-gallon fuel tank will give the SUV a potential range of up to 740 miles, Porsche says.
The SUV is fitted with a diesel-emissions-reduction system that helps it pass emission regulations in all states. A diesel-emissions-reduction solution, named AdBlue, is stored in a tank fitted in the spare-tire well and injected into a catalytic reduction converter.
The diesel is the fifth model in the Cayenne lineup. The others are the base Cayenne, with a 300-hp, 3.6-liter V6 and all-wheel drive; the Cayenne S, with a 400-hp, 4.8-liter V8 and all-wheel drive; the Cayenne S hybrid, with 380 hp total output from a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 and two electric motors; and the Cayenne Turbo, with a 500-hp, twin-turbo 4.8-liter V8 and all-wheel drive.
Other changes for the 2013 Cayenne include the addition of power door lock and unlock buttons on the driver's and front-passenger's door handles and an analog clock on the SUV's instrument panel.

事實上，AUDI在今年1月時所發表、預計2月開始於歐洲市場販售的第三代A6 Allroad Quattro，其動力選擇方面就已包括這款新世代3.0 BiTDI V6雙渦輪柴油引擎在內，如今AUDI也宣布即日起除了A6 Allroad Quattro之外，包括A6 Saloon、A6 Avant及A7 Sportback也可選擇此款動力系統，搭配八速Tiptronic手自排變速箱，更以313ps/66.3kgm的輸出功率成為AUDI旗下六缸柴油動力的龍頭老大，有著壓過M-BENZ OM642 3.0L V6渦輪柴油引擎、而能夠與BMW N57（N57D30T1）直六雙渦輪柴油引擎相抗衡的實力。
而此具AUDI最新世代的BiTDI V6雙渦輪柴油引擎排氣量為2967c.c.，在設計方面並非一般所認知的三缸對應一顆渦輪、是採取一大一小串聯式兩階段配置，藉由較小的渦輪在低轉速域時提供較為充足的扭力、抑制渦輪遲滯現象，較大的渦輪則於中高轉速域提供充沛的馬力輸出，讓此具動力系統在供油壓力3200bar、最大增壓值3.2bar時，可爆發出313ps/3900-4500rpm最大馬力及66.3kgm/1450-2800rpm峰值扭力，搭配八速Tiptronic手自排變速箱，讓A6 Saloon Quattro有著0-100km/h加速有著5.1秒、A6 Avant及A7 Sportback也有著5.3秒的強悍表現。
即便有著如此優質的動力表現，此具3.0 BiTDI V6雙渦輪柴油引擎藉由引擎怠速自動啟閉系統及動能回收系統的助益之下，同時還具備15.625km/L的優異平均油耗表現，以及169g/km的二氧化碳排放量。此外AUDI也為針對排氣系統方面做出改善，藉由排氣通道內的特殊可變閥門設計，讓柴油動力車型也可具備有如汽油動力車款般的渾厚聲浪，即便是柴油車款也可享受熱血沸騰的氛圍。
For 2013, Sand White has been replaced by a new White paint option. Sand Yellow and Amethyst Metallic are also no longer available.
