In BMW owner's manual, it says:
"Alternative oil types
If the approved engine oils are not available, up to 1 US quart/liter of another oil within the following specification MAY BE used.
API SM quality standard or higher."
Stop saying America this and America that. You do not live in America. You do not represent American customers. I think you have some knowledge. Unfortunately, you have some logical issues in mind without mature visions and there was no point to argue in this thread. You could surely add the alternative oil when you are not able to find the best option. However, most people (doesn't matter if it's American or Chinese) who own this level of cars will not add cheap oil into engine. I am sure you will not, either. You really miss the point that we are discussing a "FACT". You are making yourself like a joke....indeed.
And please, when you are not living in America, stop making yourself like you know American stuff.
