Performance Start is the Porsche lingo for launch control. This feature is usually part of the Sport Chrono package and is available for the entire range except the diesel Cayenne.
Well, not anymore.
The 2015 models are getting this option as well, shaving 0.1 seconds off the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint time.
That is rather disappointing and really puts things in perspective. The price tag will be €760 in Germany and $770 in the US. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not a lot, especially considering how much a Porsche can cost but since the improvement is so small,
I’d think twice before checking that box too.
Getting back to the car itself, the Cayenne Diesel accelerates from 0 to 62 (100 km/h) in 7.3 seconds and honestly, that difference of 0.1 seconds could be offset by a gust of wind or even having a .... heavier passenger in the car...
On other models, the Sport Chrono package and its built-in Performance Start makes a slightly bigger difference that can go from 0.2 seconds to around 0.3 seconds on a couple of Panamera models for example.
