A remapped computer, revised intake and exhaust systems and a re-tuned supercharger were the only changes made to generate the extra kick needed when fighting air pressures at such speeds. The car also received basic aerodynamic and safety upgrades, however the standard six-speed automatic transmission was deemed up to the task and not altered in any way.
If sceptics needed any proof that the XF range, and the XFR in particular, were the real deal then this would be it.
Any car that can crest the magical 186mph (300km/h) mark is a serious contender, the fact that it looks stunning is just a bonus.
