VIÑA TARAPACÁ Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo Valley Gran Reserva 2008 Score: 90 Release Price: $15 Country: ChileRegion: MaipoIssue: Web Only - 2010 An old-school version, with lots of sage and mint, but fine-grained and nicely rounded, with a pure beam of raspberry, red currant and blackberry fruit riding through. The long, supple finish has a lingering coffee hint, showing none of the vintage's ruggedness. Drink now through 2011. 1,800 cases imported. –JM

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva Etiquetta Negra spent 12 months in French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it delivers scents of wood smoke, pencil lead, spice box, violets, and blackcurrant. This leads to a wine with excellent depth and concentration, savory flavors, and a lengthy, pure finish. Drink this Saint-Julien lookalike through 2019.
