Black X10 WILL Include Multi-Touch Support April 1st, 2010 by scotsboyuk
The X10 multi-touch saga gets stranger by the day … Initially we thought the X10 just wouldn’t ship with multi-touch, but that it might be added at some later date. Then we were told that it didn’t support multi-touch at all and never would. Now we’re told by sources close to Sony Ericsson that the black version supports multi-touch, but the white version doesn’t. Our tipster revealed:
Basically they got it wrong. The white version doesn’t have multi-touch support that’s true, and it’s hardware won’t support it. However, the black X10 does support multi-touch.
When asked why there was a difference between the two versions of the handsets our tipster responded:
They saw the success of the iPhone and wanted some of that, but they had to be able to appeal to the fashionista-hipster crowd like Apple does. Their market research showed that most Apple customers expect to buy products missing key features so they intentionally left out multi-touch support in the white hipster version and included it in the black version meant for sale to everyone else.
