Google正式確認:沒有Nexus 2的存在

Google CEO Eric Schmidt正式證實.Google已經沒有計劃製造或出售傳說中的具有QWERTY鍵盤，Nexus One後繼機的Nexus 2。Google認為，他們已經完成了目標，並不需要另外的Android手機。

以下是施密特先生的談話

The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn’t have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticized us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: ‘Ok, it worked. Congratulations – we’re stopping’. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale

一年半以前.我們試著要推動整個硬體平台往上提升.因此後來有了Nexus One的存在.。我們認為這已經成功，不需再做第二次。我們認為這是正面的，但很多的人批評我們如此的作法。因此我喊停，說：'好吧。恭喜- 我們將停止'。我們喜歡這種靈活性.

似乎這段話也透露出Google推出自有品牌手機後.的確面臨了來自合作伙伴的壓力.在現今市面上比Nexus One先進的Android 手機包括Motorola Droid X/Droid 2, Samsung Galaxy S系列, HTC EVO等..都已經上市或即將上市.也明顯繼Motorola Droid後.繼續推動了Android手機的銷售量.因此Google選擇不再與合作伙伴有所衝突.
