I 100% agreed with your statement.
1. Full frame is much needed for certain professional, period. For average or even advanced photographer, full frame is nice to have but not much needed. For us, we need much more better AWB, better color processing JPEG and lighter and smaller. Weight is becoming a big issue to consider.
2. I am less optimistic about m4/3 but I think APSC is here to stay.
Recently, I become more and more interested in Rangefinder camera. I am using a used RD-1 from Epson and really surprised how a 2004 camera can have such an accurate AWB. It put Canon, Nikon all to shame. If you look at M lens, every effort is being spent on how to correct optical or color issue with utmost effort in lens material and design, while keeping the size and weight as compact as possible. If you look at Nikon designer today, they are way too lazy, distortion of all sort, on native scale, was so large and unacceptable and yet, they think they will use electronic image processing to correct somewhat. The biggest problem facing with Nikon or Canon designer is that, they think everyone will use Lightroom to process RAW, so they leave a lot of that to post-processing. To me, that is lazy and incompetent. Yes, even Leica M240 relies on 6 bit coding to do some correction but no one doubts that Leica M lens, in its native scale, is optically superb. Yes, they cost a lot more but still, if you look at modern 1.4 lens, they also cost a lot more nowaday.
Bottom line, choose and use camera of your choice and your usage. That is an easy to say but hard to understand advise as most of us, do not understand what we need, as a camera, for our needs or what we think we do. Personally, I am deeply entrenched into a rangefinder and a Fuji system. Rangewinder is a joy and fun but it is not for everyone. The same is true for full-frame versus non-full-frame sensor.
Hope this helps.
