另這顆鏡頭的英文是7 artisans,另Kamlan也有出50mm f1.1。請問Kamlan和七工匠有無關係?
I bought 7 Artisan 50/1.1 when seeing a posting on FB. I am interested because of F1.1 and the price is quite reasonable. Also, I like to see what PRC made lens is capable. Went to Taobao, had it shipped to me within 2 days for less than NTD10,000. I use it on my Leica M9/P
The lens is quite hefty but it looks just right on Leica M9. Not too big. About 1/16 area on your lower right side is blocked out. But that is acceptable to me. There is no click on the aperture and the focusing is smooth but not on the same level as Leica/Zeiss or even Voigtlander but it is nice enough.
Based on a Sonar design, this lens is prong to focus-shift. Therefore, the lens comes with a tool and a chart to allow you to make adjustment. THe insruction set is horrible, it tell you to focus at 2m to make this adjustment. Being a stupid person like me, I adjusted and I totally screw this up. My lens was OK for sharpness at f1.1 when I first received it. After adjustment, the lens is horrible at f1.1 but at f1.4, it becomes acceptable. Only acceptable. Knowing that it was me making the mistake and with an untrained eye, I contacted the seller on Taobao who was kind enough to refer me to 7 Artisan company technical service. Since I was going to be on a business trip to Dong Guan, I contacted them and arranged for a face meeting to help me to adjust. The 7 Artisan gladly accepted.
I met up with two young person. Mr. Lee, the customer experience manager is a nice and intelligent person and within minutes of testing, he told me mine was aft-focusing. He adjusted in minutes and the lens is super sharp now at f1.1 I spent the rest of the time talking with them. The lens when in design stage benchmark with several lens including VM 50/1.1 Mr Lee told me they went through 5 design changes. Their lens is less prone to purple fringing than VM He told me that their lens is meant to capture the atmosphere of f1.1 and not as sharp or razor sharp as Leica. He also told me that this lens performs best at 1m to infinity when at f1.1! I think he is humble cause after adjustment, I find less than 1m focusing distance, the performace is still quite good! He also told me that their lens is calibrated using M240 at factory, which tell me that it is probably using live view but M9 is only optical rangefinder. They are working on a new 28/2 but local produced ASPH lens is still not good enough! He is optimistic. When asked why 28mm, he said, that is about the whole area your Leica viewfinder can cover. He is shooting for F2.0 or even bigger I think for this new lens.
1. This is by far the best lens I had used from PRC. It render image quite well with personality, a bit more redish. I shoot it next to MS Optics f1.1, VM50/1.1 for a shoot out.
2. This lens balance well on Leica M body. It is well suited for portrait and street. The image and brokeh are quite nice but that is very subjective.
3. About the only downside is the lack of a lens shade but understandable, it would further block out the viewfinder viewing.
I strongly recommend this lens at this price point. I think it can command at least 50% more in price for its performace. The name 7 Artisan is horrible but the product is very nice. BTW, it even comes with a tiger claw to be attached to the lens but they choose to use a plastic material which is a drawback.
If you are interested, feel free to PM me, be glad to show you some photo through LINE or you can check my facebook Paul Lee for the shoot out comparison.
I got my copy a few days ago. I'm satisfied with the wide open performance but I don't think it's sharp. Would you mind posting a few pictures with aperture wide open on Flickr and share here? I want to compare the wide open performance between our copies. Don't want to lose its potential capability.
You may first check my casual testing photos in another post in mobile 0 1 as below, thanks.
