如果我是Apple的策略長，不會要所有的Windows user都來用Mac，改變習慣是困難的，何況又有檔案互通的顧慮，做生意就是要讓潛在使用者能夠安心，安心的使用製作文件，安心的分享知識，我只要設計出像Adobe PDF Reader一樣跨平台的閱讀器，雖不能編寫但能原汁原味的呈現Mac所製作的文檔，然後讓更多的Mac文檔製作出來傳給更多Windows的使用者，如果製作如同樣結果的文檔Windows要花一個半小時，而Mac只要花半小時，那麼有些人自然會願意用錢來換取時間，因為省下來的時間能去做更多不同的事。
我會換系統，也是基於此出發點。
anyway, for regular people, apple's iWork is usually enough. iWork is also designed with regular owner in mind. for real business people, Office on windows is still the best option. especially when they need to use access and some other more "advance" programs.
I don't know about iWord08, but from my experience with iWork 06, it is not really competitable with Office on windows. I often have format issue, and powerpoint often have problem reading my iWork files. I think for a serious business people, it is not possible even to try to use iWork to replace Office. not to meantion that 99% of the company using Windows and Office at work.
I think Microsoft realized that Word, Execel, and PointPoint wll eventually become a standard and they can no longer hope to charge high price for it. They come up with the student/teacher version for $150 and you can use it on 3 computers. which make it only $50 per computer. I don't know about other countries, in the US, retailers don't care if you are a student of not. Everyone can buy it at the price.
On the other hand, if you need to use Access, Publisher, or other more professional oriented program, you will need to buy much more expensive Office Professional, and that's where real money coming from.

OpenOffice 的相容性已經算滿高了，也免費，你覺得 OpenOffice 影響到多少 MS Office 的市場？
iWork 做出來的效果比 OpenOffice 炫？也沒用...因為別人沒辦法開你的檔案的時候，你還是得要妥協
如果你的檔案就是你自己使用，或你朋友都有 Mac，或你的檔案也不需要別人修改...那的確是沒差
但是實際情況往往不是這樣。
不過別忘了Google這個搜尋引擎巨人，它擁有豐富的資金跟技術可以跟兩家公司對抗。最重要的是它免費，這又更誘人了。雖然現在還不至於危汲到任何一家公司，不過這是遲早的事，而且應該非常快。
上面的 OpenOffice 例子很清楚了
除非 MS Office 把 Office 格式使用公開的格式，否則誰來做 Office 都會面臨相容性問題
Google 目前對 MS 最大的衝擊還是在於 Search 這塊，Office 這塊，google 要撼動 MS 還早的很

Jobs 根本沒有資料流通性問題，底下的秘書就會先幫他處理了
我只能覺的很多人每次提到 iWork，就開始批評 Office，多爛，多不好用，做出來的東西跟 iWork 做的完全不能比
這根本沒什麼意義...
Office 有成長的空間，但是也沒必要罵到一文不值
當我要改學弟論文的時候，他寄給我的檔案是 word 檔，我就是只能用 Office for Mac 來修改
(幸好都是英文，所以還不會亂掉)
Keynote 的確是不錯用，但是我這兩天要做一個投影片給一個教授，我還是得要用 powerpoint for Mac 來做
因為我做完之後還要給那個教授看，或他自己可能要修改
這就是現實...
