As using Wintel for so many years, I also had the fear to switch to MAC and also think the price of MAC is much higher, but for the price of iBook, you hardly found a Wintel notebook got the same performance and design and good quanity and good reliability and licenced software.
I bough my iBook in 皇室堡 in Causeway Bay (CabxxX), they also had the custom version so you can purchase according to your request. I upgraded my iBook to 60G HDD and 768M RAM (they selling the RAM module close to the market price, not like the expensive price in Apple store).
I not yet try out all function but OSX is easy to use. Last time I try to show the photo from DC to my family and play slideshow in iPhoto, that came out with music automatically, what a surprise and nice setting!
I used the display hack and now using the iBook as desktop with my Logitech trackball and keyboard, also, I found that I now use my MAC much more than the PC.
For the battery life, I will switch off the Airport card if I need extend operating time and also I can adjust the brightness of screen to get longer battery life. However, their power supply is small and good looking which I don't mind to bring it along.
Last, my friend is using the highest model of iBook (14", G4 1.33MHz) for video editing and burn the DVD. His comment is excellent.
