according to inquirer.com, Intel will release some last bunch of Core 2 CPU in December. these chip could very likely go into Macbook or Macbook Pro in January or February refresh next year.
on the 2 core parts.
T9800 2.93GHz 6M $530 (this could be a BTO option)
P9600 2.66GHz 6M $348 (this could become the base model for Macbook Pro)
P8600 2.40GHz 3M $209 (a price drop of $32, i guess apple will just take advantage of it)
there is an interesting new 4 core product Q9000
Q9000 4core 12M $348 35W. comparing to 2 core offering, it's the same price as P9600. it's reasonable affordable price.
just few weeks after the release of these products, Intel will start rolling out mobile Corei7. so the longer you wait, the faster computer you will get.
ok, that's the CPU side, let's look at NVIDIA side.
after reading about MCP7A (current 9400M on Macbook/Pro) there are certainly some update coming.
1. the current version (B2 stepping) does NOT support Hybrid SLI with 9xxx series graphic card.
2. the current vision does NOT support Hybrid power. (which suppose to lower power consumption)
3. DisplayPort output does NOT support audio. (this can be pretty much confirmed with the new Apple LED monitor, cause it NEED to plug in USB for the 2.1 channel speakers)
hope everyone can make an informed decision
So iMac is gonna wait until Jan. to get quad? That sucks. Nvidia's update seems minor to me.
One more thing: according to MacRumors and Gizmodo, the Mac Mini is going to be discontinued. I have one already, and it's brilliant. I run Ubuntu on it, use it as a home server. Can't believe Apple is dropping those little wonders.

Yes!This is what I'm talking about!Seems that I've made the right decision!
Antus, here's a question for you. I am an ADC Student Member; my younger brother wants to buy AppleCare by using my account before year 2008. So will I still eligible to get a discount price on Mac products in year 2009?
