my q is that , in my macintosh hard disk it says i used 66 gig but as u can see i have 38 gig of app and 4 gig of system 9.65gig in my libarary folder,4 gig in my user folder and 3.78 gig in my developer folder:

so 66gig-38-4-9.65-4-3.78=7 i got 7 gig left what i wanna ask is where have the 7 gig been, it is lost?
could some one answer i really appreciate

You didn't factor in hidden files.
That include the sleep image and the swap file, which should account for most of that 7GB difference.

The file system itself also occupies some hard drive space.

thx for answering !i have another Q is that sometimes i cant copy thing to my hard drive (not macintosh its a 外接式硬碟) but i can copy things from my 外接式硬碟 someone got a answer?srry for asking such a stupid question but im new to mac

I think your hard disk is NTFS format.
Mac can't write files in NTFS format Hard Disk .
You can setup Macfuse to use NTFS format hard disk.

Like 風行者 said, by default Mac OS X is unable to write in a NTFS-formatted hard drive.

Consider formatting your drive to exFAT. This will enable it to be read/written on OS X 10.6.5 or higher, Windows XP and higher ( with proper updates and service packs applied ).

Please back up your files before doing so, as formatting a drive will erase its contents.
