Hi, I've been using maya and adobe series software for 9 years so I think I have enough credits to give u some suggestion of choosing ur new computer. The computer you should go for is Mac book pro(Mbp) not iMac. Mbp is design for professional use and iMac is for home entertainment. Parts inside these two type of apple products are very different. Therefore you will find that when running same software in Mbp and iMac with same CPU frequency and memory capacity, Mbp is always faster then iMac. Hope that helps.
