Apple tried to silence owner of exploding iPod with gagging order
Apple attempted to silence a father and daughter with a gagging order after the child’s iPod music player exploded and the family sought a refund from the company.
The Times has learnt that the company would offer the family a full refund only if they were willing to sign a settlement form. The proposed agreement left them open to legal action if they ever disclosed the terms of the settlement.

全球接二連三 iPod傳爆炸自燃

全球接二連三，傳出蘋果的熱門商品爆炸起火的意外！在荷蘭人有人宣稱，他新買的iPhone 3G手機無緣無故起火燃燒；英國泰晤士報今天又踢爆，一名11歲英國小女孩使用iPod突然爆炸起火，拿去退貨，蘋果公司居然逼簽和解書，要求封口；日本也接獲18宗報案，有人邊充電邊聽音樂，眼睜睜看著iPod起火燃燒；蘋果公司僅發表聲明說，只有第一代iPod鋰電池有問題，因此目前不打算全面回收。
路邊停車幾分鐘，汽車座椅就被燒出窟窿！這位荷蘭駕駛人說，擺在座椅中間的iPhone 3G，不知怎麼突然起火，駕駛人強調，當時這支iPhone 3G可沒在充電，怎麼會起火？目前歐洲蘋果尚未作出回應。
出包的不只iPhone，還有iPod。這是網路上模擬iPod起火的畫面，英國泰晤士報踢爆，一位英國11歲小女孩使用iPod Touch竟然爆炸起火，小女孩想退貨，蘋果居然逼簽和解書，想要封口。
同樣的事故也發生在美國，一名青少年因此雙腳被灼傷，僅管當時美國消保員會做的iPod安全報告，詳細列明了多宗iPod起火或爆炸的個案，但沒下令回收iPod，因為政府認為「出事比率還不高」。
在日本，至少也接獲18宗的iPod nano起火報案，很多案例都是一邊充電一邊聽iPod，因為電池過熱突然起火，消費者還表示，當時有從耳機中聽到不明的怪異聲響，接著爆出火花，還好最後沒有造成受傷；日本蘋果發表聲明表示，問題可能出在2005年9月至2006年12月間生產，第一代iPodnano的電池有問題。
不過蘋果強調，後面幾代iPod已經沒有問題，因此不打算全面回收。網路上很多影片，都是網友惡搞，放火燒iPod，沒想到全球各地陸續傳出iPod起火意外，個案接二連三，蘋果公司還欠消費者一個答案！
