0-60 mph 2007 G35S vs 2017 GSF

I just did 0-60 test on my new 2017 GSF.

Guess what? The below is the result...

2007 G35S 170K kms in 2017 : 5.05 (Normal mode and near empty gas tank)
2017 GSF 10K kms in 2018 : 4.93 (Sport mode and near empty gas tank)

In fact I'm both happy and sad. I'm happy because my old G is still very good. I'm sad because I pay so much money in GSF and it isn't much faster.(I was trying hard and did 3 times to get a better number) I was expecting new GSF should be around 4.5 but I do believe my GSF will become much faster when it's over 50-100K kms.

So Nissan Japan is AS GOOD AS Toyota Japan!!!

I think for a while. For 0-60 results I think I'm unhappy is much more than happy....
I also believe my new GSF should be much better in 1/4 mile run...
I would like to add some thoughts.

2017 GSF
0-20 : 1.60 (my test)
0-30 : 2.28 (my test), 1.8 (motortrend)
0-60 : 4.93 (my test), 4.4 (motortrend)

2007 G35S
0-20 : 1.58
0-30 : 2.35
0-60 : 5.05

From above numbers, professional drivers from motortend get much better numbers from 0-30 which means they really know how to get good start for GSF. (know how to get good traction from start). For me I waste near half a second for 0-30.

However 30-60 I can get similar numbers as those from motortrend.

2017 GSF's 0-60 is not so good. Part of reasons is that it didn't get a good start as G35S. So if I improve my start skills on GSF, it should be get better numbers. But I think it should only improve 0.1-0.2.

So all in all old G35S is still a very good car. GSF is a little bit slower than what I expect but I think after 50K-100K kms it should be better. How much better GSF will be? I don't know but time will tell...

So right now I finally know why GT-R is so popular in car enthusiasts...

If no GT-R, Q50/Q60 Red Sport is also acceptable...
Lexus的變速箱真的怪怪的
While G35s performs so well, how if G37?

I had a 2007 Nissan Fuga V6 (Infiniti M).
While it is a medium - large luxury sedan,
it is obvious the first 3 gears have very close ratios to enhance 0-120 acceleration,
while 4th and 5th gears are more for highway cruise.
I think it's not fair for GSF because my old G is 10 year old car and my new GSF is almost brand new. Older cars may run faster than newer cars. (It sounds strange but it is true...)

Luckily I did test 2014 Q50 3.7 in 2015 before. The below is the result. (Same location similar weather except 3/4 gas tank)

0-20 1.77
0-30 2.52
0-60 5.67

I was also very surprised the results since the new Q50 felt SO MUCH faster than my old G. Again I did try very hard to get a better number but....

If my new GSF compares with Q50 numbers instead of the old G, I think GSF's numbers become better and I also feel better.

All in all, I think when buying these Nissan/Toyota cars, used cars maybe are better option. I think why my G is so reliable, partly because my G have over 300 hp. Usually I only use 30-50% of its power even thought I drive it spiritedly most of time. Therefore 30 years ago those Nissan/Toyota cars with 4 cylinders and small power engines were very reliable (better than many V6/V8 at same age) which were really amazing already...

OK. So my G is too reliable(again it sounds strange but it is true) Maybe putting turbos on those Nissan/Toyota engines maybe is excellent idea. Not sure how they will hold up in the future but 30 years ago they were not so good. Again time will tell...
