Replace Rear Brake Pads on 2007 G35S

Today I replaced rear brake pads on my old 2007 G35S by myself. I'm a little bit surprised that the job was quite easy in fact. (But you still need a special cramp tool to push caliper piston back easily).

Again I still continue to use Hawk HPS brake pads. Guess what? Over 4 years and 65K kms spirited drive with 80% city 20% highway. The old pads still have 30% left. These pads are really money saver. In addition Hawk pads have less dust and will not eat your rotors like OEM pads. They are also quiet and stop better than OEM when speed is over 80 kms/h. However there is one drawback which is you may need more brake force when your brake is cold and outside temperature is below 15 Celsius. Except that everything is equal or better than OEM, I think.

You may think rear brake pads should last longer. Actually it's not. In my G35S and M35X cars front brake pads always last longer(at least 6 years). I guess it's because they are RWD. (M is AWD but 99% of time on M is RWD only)

I checked my log book again. Actually the old pads last 5 years and 80K kms. So my front pads should last at least 7 years and over 110K kms. But my previous front pads weren't used for that long. Why? Because of my aggressive driving style. They were changed at the end of the sixth year due to my front wrapped rotors...(rotors need to be replaced)

So as you know I didn't spend a lot of money on my two old Nissans... Actually it's very little...
