2007 G35S vs 2010 M35X vs 2017 GSF

Now I drive GSF every day. Why I don't feel happy or excited when I am driving it? WHY? WHY? WHY?

When I was in Taipei and owned 2000 Maxima(with Koni + H&R springs), I always had strong intention of taking it to mountain roads? Again, 9 years ago I had even stronger intention of taking 2007 G35S(with KW V3) with BIG SMILEs to mountain roads. Why not now??? Am I too old now!?! I think all I need is NOT a performance car. It is a RACE car...

PS: Actually I didn't drive cars extremely fast.(It's too dangerous on public roads) I just enjoy totally different level confidence provided by those excellent European coilovers. I think most car makers don't sell race cars for general public because their suspensions are TOO STIFF for them!?!
HA! HA! I just tested another 2016 M5 again. This one had less mileage(about 30K kms). I put all settings in sport plus mode all the time. Yes. The power with twin clutch was very direct. Guess what? Even road was totally dry, steering was totally straight and speed was over 60 km/h. When I full throttle on it, it still drifted!!! I think that power was insane but also quite rude and dangerous!?! I think I would not go that far. (feel like STUPIT FAST!!!)

Again like previous M5 I tested this M5's steering/handling is not so good. Its steering is very firm in sport plus mode but lacked feedback. Its handling was not so tight or nimble as my GSF's. I also found it had much more body roll than my GSF even in sport plus mode. In addition, after I'd reduced the tire pressures on my GSF to 37 psi, I think my GSF ride is also good now. Of course M5 is still a little bit better or stable but NOT SO MUCH now...

I think I will not test F10 M5 again. I should try new M5 next time...(after I put Ohlins on my GSF)

Actually I'm a little bit surprised that F10 M5 has much more body roll at very tight slow corners!?!

2017 GSF (stock) : only 5% roll (almost nothing)
2007 G35S (Eibach sway bars + PSS10) : 10% (Before purchasing my new GSF I thought my old G body roll should be near nothing!!!)
2016 M5 (stock): 30%

So you can see how good my GSF is in controlling body roll and it's still very comfortable...

I think my GSF unit body is extremely stiff. It just needs better or more aggressive dampers in sport/sport+ mode.

PS: Believe it or not! I've never ever change any suspension parts for my old G(over 190K kms) except its shocks, springs(KW V3, PSS10), swaybars(Eibach) and camber kits. Maybe if I replace my G's original factory swaybar links, my G body roll should as minimal as GSF. I did check G's swaybar links' conditions, they might not be as tight as new ones but still looked good, felt no gap and no noise yet. So I decided not to change them!?!
Believe it or not. My wife keeps complain about Teslas recently. (This is the second time in one week.) Here we can see many Teslas since Tesla factory is just next to her office and only 2.5 miles away from our home. I already told her most Teslas were faster or MUCH faster than her M35X. It seems she doesn't believe it and keep saying Tesla model "S" is not fast.(She also said she tried to race/chase that Tesla!!!) Do you know why??? She also said her M35X(near 10 year old, just 80K kms but 90% are short-drive and local mileages) was getting faster and faster recently!?! Maybe I put Royal Purple HPS oil on her M which is TOO GOOD... Of course my son's G35S(over 190k kms) is still much FASTER than M.

PS: Sometimes I think she drives faster than I do. I also worry about her safety because we both are getting old now...
It's really strange that I love my GSF more and more now after I gave my old G35S to my son about one month ago. Last week I also did some test drive for old G35S with PSS10 on much softer settings(10F/8R before and 6F/4R now). I found the ride was still good and stable(of course it's not so tight and spot on but much more comfortable). In addition the old G is/feel still as fast as normal mode GSF... I also comfirm that normal mode GSF's MPG is the same as G35S's!?!

PS: If I drive GSF and G35S on the same route(with some traffic), I think G35S can be as fast as GSF. (Sometimes I also think the old G may be a little bit faster than GSF!?!)
Today I drove my son's G35S. Wow! It ride was so good. Fast, comfortable and stable. PSS10 has been changed from F:10 and R:8 to F:6 and R:4. The handling is not so sharp but still nearly as good as my GSF's. I really cannot wait to put Ohlins on my GSF. I really think GSF should come with Ohlins(ans also stiffer springs) from factory. I will also put XADO on my wife's M35X. I think XADO improves low rpm response a lot on G35S. M35X is too slow for me now...
My GSF rear tires are still 8/32. (The new was 10/32) The mileage is about 18K kms now. GSF's tires wear very slow comparing with G35S's. Not sure why? In my experience Michelin Super Sport on GSF should wear faster than Bridgestone Potenza RE760 on G35S. Maybe I need to give even more throttle on GSF. (I already gave more throttle!!!)

Another thing is GSF sounds very sweet(much sweeter than G) but the exhaust sound is VERY LOUD outside!!! I don't want to get too much attention including polices. The loud exhaust sound was very good in the beginning but not so good now!?! I like quiet and fast on G35S more... In addition very loud exhaust sound will let you think "You're very fast!!!" but actually it's NOT!!!
My son will drive his 2007 G35S to his apartment near his university next week. So I drove his car for final check today.

Wow! His G still performed very well comparing with my GSF. G felt as good as my GSF on mountain roads(if not better). I still had a big smile on my face. The PSS10 on G is near 3 year old now. I also softened PSS10 from 10/8 to 6/4 (the firmest is 10). I think softened PSS10 is still good except very rough roads on highway. On very rough roads I DID feel PSS10 was a little bit under-damp...

I also think G is still very quick.(It will let you feel every car on the road is slow!!!) Of course you keep flooring on your car. Your car will become fast. I think the best thing on my son's G is it can be very quick QUIETLY and EFFORTLESSLY!!!(even with fully load!!!) I think XADO helps a lot on G. I will try it on my wife's M35X very soon because I think M becomes a little bit slow now comparing with GSF and G...
Sometimes things become really strange???

When I was young I was driving an old used and slow 1992 Civic LX which was 1.5 NA and only 105hp. If I could own a over 300hp G35S, RWD, PSS10 installed etc. and almost as fast as my big V8 5.0 GSF. I think I must be sleepless at night, always. Now my son own my previous G and he doesn't really care about it. My son is like me physically but is like the most softness part of both me and my wife mentally!!! So as you know my son's EQ is very very high!!! In addition, he also has very good IQ. I think in the future he must be better than what I and my wife are right now...
Believe or not. My son wants to save 50USD weekly parking fee at his university. So he decides to take his university shuttle instead of driving his fast G... But he will still drive his G for grocery shopping during weekend... (What a waste of a 310 hp and 5 second flat car!!!)

However if I sell his G, it will not worth more than 8000USD???(But it still performs like a new car) So I decide to keep it... My wife's 2010 M35X has similar situation...I think all my old Nissans are TOO GOOD... Anyway. So I can save more money to prepare for buying my new GT-R in the future... (Of course it will be a used car AGAIN...)
