Today my daughter took her old Nissan to a local Nissan dealer for an inspection as she now lives 600 kms away from home and I couldn't check her car now!!!
The below is the result...
So, basically the Nissan only found a problem which was power steering rack leak. However, the leak is very minor. So, we decide to skip it as usual... (I'd found this problem on both my son's and my daughter's Nissans since their cars both were around 5 year old but both power steering fluid levels NEVER drop!!!)
The Nissan technician also suggested to change ATF and differential oil...
However, I already DIY changed front and rear differential oil last summer and ATF this summer. So, it's not necessary to change them again... (So, Nissan still couldn't make any money from us!!!)
As you can see, the costs of the oil replacement tasks from Nissan are NOT cheap!!! (305USD for ATF and 180USD for one differential) Like I said, the living cost in USA is REALLY REALLY HIGH!!!
However, there are still some bad news... We may need to change the tires and rear brake pads next year!!!
PS: Please don't underrate this inspection task from Nissan... The Nissan took completely 2.5 hours to finish the job and also let my daughter be late in her class!!!
The living cost in USA is very high and is at least 3 times of that in Taiwan...
You may think the social benefits from the government in USA could be good??? Based on the differences of the living costs, if you want to get those additional benefits from US government, you cannot earn "22K" anymore... You only can earn "11K" or even lower!!!
305USD for ATF >>>> 20-35USD if DIY 180USD for differential >>>> 10-15USD if DIY
Of course, in Taiwan DIYs are really not necessary. Besides, Taiwan is hot and humid and mosquito everywhere!!! So, DIYs in Taiwan could become a nightmare!!!
My daughter told me that most of her friends drove slower than she did....
However, there is one exception. And, that friend's car is a Corolla!!! (Her previous car was a Prius!!!)
My daughter also told me that she still loved her old Nissan a lot!!! She just finished an almost 700kms trip today. She thinks her old Nissan is still very comfortable, quiet, fast, fun and reliable!!! She also loves the Bose system a lot!!!
She said my GSF felt slower at normal mode especially on highway. Of course, at SPORT+, not SPORT mode my GSF will become a beast immediately!!!
The main reason why my GSF feels slower is the transmission. Like I said, the 5 speed auto from my daughter's M35X is VERY AGGRESSIVE, especially on highway.
I also tell my daughter that if you think my GSF is "slow", I think you will not be happy if you drive a Corolla, Camry or ES because those cars are even slower. (The problem is not "GSF is slow". The problem is "Your old Nissan is TOO FAST!!!" )
Actually if you know how to choose a correct gear, any driving mode will be fast. (I haven't used SPORT or SPORT+ mode for a very long time.) However, it's too much for my daughter...
PS: If you don't know how to choose a correct gear, even with a 500hp engine and a MT , you will still be slow!!!
I checked my son G35S today. The front floor carpet in the driver side was only a little wet and that in passenger side was still dry. I think the wet floor carpet problem in my son's G35S should still be OK...
There is not much rain in California. If the problem becomes serious, I just buy a cheap car cover and only cover the car when it's rainy and the rain is also heavy...
