More than 20 years ago, Li Ying, a beautiful little Chinese girl, was abducted and sold. After traveling around for a year, she was locked in chains in a ventilated hut in Dongji Village, Fengxian County, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. After being exposed by some brave whistleblowers, she became known as the “Chained Woman”. In the past 25 years, Li Ying has been raped and gang-raped countless times, and has given birth to 8 children who are still alive. When she was found, her teeth were broken and the tip of her tongue was cut off, so her speech was not clear, but her thinking was still clear. She has still not been rescued and returned home although the case has been exposed many times. We don’t know why. The video “Crying for Li Ying” uses the released works of many photographers, painters and whistleblowers. First of all, I would like to express my highest respect to them! This song was composed by Sam Clement and Katrinlilo; sung by Chintyade in Chinese and English respectively (the first 3‘57’‘ of this video is in Chinese, the second half is in English); I am the lyricist and video producer Michael Del Brown, who used to work in China, once stepped into the boundaries of Feng County. After hearing about the chained girl, I sighed and couldn’t sleep. Making this song to show a little humane care for Jiangsu, China. May God rescue all the Li Yings as soon as possible and let them get the free life they deserve! May this song be sung often and alarm bells ring frequently to prevent more such incidents from happening! Special thanks to Chintyade and her team for their contribution to the vocal and instrumental composition as well as Violinist Katrinillo.
