According to our source—and we have to say that we find this part hard to believe—Apple is pushing up the release date of the fifth-generation iPhone to early 2011 (as soon as January) because of the antenna issues with the iPhone 4. It’s unknown whether this will be a repackaging of iPhone 4 components in a different shell or something more substantial. We reiterate: it’s hard to believe. But as with so many seemingly far-fetched early reports, it’s not impossible.

Due to the antenna issues, Apple may be coming out with a fifth-generation iPhone sooner than many would have anticipated (early 2011). iLounge, like us, is discounting this rumor simply because the iPhone 4 remains in high demand despite all the negative publicity. Of course, while we're spreading rumors, one might postulate that the next-generation iPhone the source mentioned is really the rumored Verizon iPhone. (You see how easy it is to perpetuate rumors).

Ordinarily, we would be highly skeptical of several of these claims, but while we are still taking them with a grain of salt, iLounge has had some remarkably accurate information on Apple's iPod pipeline over the last several years. The site accurately revealed the design change of the fourth-generation iPod nano, as well as the larger screen and unique camera placement of the fifth-generation iPod nano months before their respective releases. The site also offered some correct details on the iPad, although not all of its information on that product did turn out to be accurate.
