The 1st gen 4gb iphone was $399 let's just round it up to $400 without tax.
The 2nd gen 8gb(double) is going to be $199 and again let's round it up to $200.
$400-$200 that's $200 of difference to start with.
Even with the $10/month increase on the data plan. $200/($10/month) is 20 month. That's almost 2 years.
So if you are the type of person that has 1st gen and is getting ready to switch to the 2nd gen I doubt you are the type of person that would want to use your 2nd gen iphone for more the 2 years.
So assuming Apple comes out with the 3rd gen next year of the same time that would be $200+$10*12 = $320. That will still be cheaper then the 1st gen of the iphone.

Apple跟At&t達成新協議，以後只會收iPhone 3G硬體的費用而已，資料傳輸的收入將完全還給At&t：
01. 綁約兩年，iPhone 3G的價錢是$199(8GB)和$299(16GB)
02. 3G資料傳輸以及語音服務方案：＄30/月(無限3G資料傳輸)、或是＄39.99/月(3G和語音)
03. 企業專案的話，＄45/月(3G以及語音)。
想使用iPhone 3G，每個月至少增加＄10（兩年$240），至於完整的新價錢目前還未公布。
