I think it's cheaper in the US. I did mine last time through AIT and it was a little expensive.
I can't remember if it was that expensive but it was more than $100.

I was surprised because inside the US, it's not so expensive
but you have to go to the federal office or mail the paperwork to them
which is a hassle because they often ask for more information so it can be delayed.

In Taiwan, the AIT is simpler in some ways but it costs more.
