因為沒有前言後語
無法知道這句話的主題是什麼
但我覺得要把時式翻出來才比較貼近本意

could be satisfied: 滿意的, 條件符合的
how the other could be satisfied: 對方是如何滿意的.
Neither of them understood how the other could be satisfied: 兩人都不知對方當時是如何滿意的.
and yet, they both were...: 然而,他倆都...

把keyword 找出來先, 再把人事時地物加進去就成了...
