3.Harvard Medical School
2.I am sorry that I am not familiar with this field.Sorry
Thank you very much for your recent e-mail. Unfortunately, we do not have a large enough staff to answer all the scientific inquiries we receive and we cannot give individual medical advice. We suggest that you visit your local library where the reference librarian can help you find recent medical encyclopedias and show you how to search MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine’s database of articles published in medical journals. Or, on the Web, you can use MEDLINEplus at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ to look up information from the National Institutes of Health on many different diseases and conditions. Another source on the Web is Intelihealth at http://www.intelihealth.com, where you will find Harvard Medical School’s consumer health information.
We wish you the best,

Maybe you are not that familiar with the workload and politics in the academic field. Each professor has his/her specialty field, maybe they are just not that familiar with your inquiry. Furthermore, if there is no very solid definition regarding to your question, chances are, they won't want to risk their credibility on this. It is sort of "sure, i'll tell you what I know, uh, but don't quote me on this one", and since you don't know the professors/Deans in person, there won't be any "unofficial" answer.
My opinion regarding to the 3 replies.
台灣某大學的所長沒時間回你信(而且天知道你是不是記者要來製造新聞... and well, at least he/she replied, some professors won't even bother to reply)
Harvard? can't you see its a standardized email from the web editor, it didn't even get to the professor you wrote to. Not particularly directed to you , but there are a lot of people who won't even think or do some minimum research before they ask. That is why Harvard has such a template for email like yours.
a little wiki showed that
Circadian rhythm
In humans, melatonin is produced by the pineal gland, a gland about the size of a pea, located in the center of the brain but outside of the blood-brain barrier. The melatonin signal forms part of the system that regulates the sleep-wake cycle by chemically causing drowsiness and lowering the body temperature, but it is the central nervous system (more specifically, the suprachiasmatic nuclei, SCN) that controls the daily cycle in most components of the paracrine and endocrine systems[25][26] rather than the melatonin signal (as was once postulated).
Infants' melatonin levels become regular in about the third month after birth, with the highest levels measured between midnight and 08:00 (8 AM).[27]
well, i guess we can say it is "related" but not that "significant", according to wiki of course.
wiki might not always be correct, but its always a good place to start. So next time, before you ask for professor's help, try do some research on your own.
Western education does emphasize on the "process of learning", and not knowing itself, but I don't really see this from the email you've provided unfortunately.
