The GaOn Charts, Korea's first official music charts, was recently launched to allow both fans and artists to enhance their experience with K-pop music and to further spread it worldwide.
The GaOn Charts are a Korean version of well known United States' Billboard Charts & the Japan's Oricon,which are a few decades old.
The name 「GaOn」,which means 「middle」 in Korean,was chosen as it represent both fairness and reliability. Although it is laying far back from its counterparts,in terms of both achievement and popularity,it is believed that it will work well.
It was stated that GaOn Charts are still under development and need to be polished even further to catch up with both Billboard Charts and Oricon. At the moment,GaOn Charts are only available in Korean language and thus still far away from getting acknowledge worldwide.
What makes the GaOn Charts stand out from the other two is that it categorizes based on online and offline sales,rather than on music genres.

In celebration of the Gaon Chart's launch, So Nyuh Shi Dae and Super Junior were invited to the event and were awarded #1 for both the digital and album category in 2009,with their respective hit singles,「Gee」 and 「Sorry Sorry」.
On the other hand, Brown Eyed Girls' GaIn and 2AM's JoKwon's duet song 『We Fell In Love』 grabbed the #1 spot of both the ringer tone and streaming awards for the first two weeks of 2010. Despite receiving the honor, JoKwon was unable to attend the event as he has to film for SBS Family Outing 2.
SeoHyun Wants To Enjoy College Life
As you guys know, So Nyuh Shi Dae's maknae, SeoHyun, was recently admitted into Dongguk University, after she completed high school.
SeoHyun especially took out some time from her busy schedule to attend the school』s admission orientation yesterday, gaining overwhelming response from the fans of the same school.
The students who attended the orientation commented,」I'm a SNSD fan. I felt honored to be able to see SeoHyun, I felt honored with it.」, as well as, 「Although we are from different courses, but it will be good if I am able to meet SeoHyun during school time」.
The lovely fans had prepared something for SeoHyun to congratulate her on being a freshman.
Even though 2009 was a busy year for SeoHyun, she did well for her high school exams and had been accepted by Dongguk University.

T-ara to debut in Japan!
On Tuesday, Core Contents Media, announced that T-ara will be making a Japanese debut in March.
The 6 member group will have a 5 day stay in Japan, starting Sunday in which they will shoot a commercial with boy band Supernova and they will also hold a press conference regarding their single album.
Core contents Media also revealed that both groups will be given a minimum of one billion won. That's the equivalent of about $87000 for the endorsement together.
T-ara will be releasing a new song in Japan, made by the same person who composed their song 『T.T.L 2』 which was released last year.
On 1st March T-ara will record their new Japanese song. They will stay in Japan until 4th March in order to film the CF
