He referred to a recent case where a Hong Kong-based trader from Societe Generale wrongly keyed in the price of the warrants of wireless solutions company Total Access Communications (TAC).
The erroneous price, posted at S$0.22 (US$0.13) instead of S$1.22 (US$0.74), was listed on the Singapore Exchange over four minutes on Jan 13, 2005. Within that time, millions of TAC warrants were traded.
The Exchange ordered Societe Generale to honor all transactions traded at the price, which dealers estimated to be a S$5 million (US$3.05 million) loss for the company.
