I own a 2017 GSF now but I just rented a 2018 M4 (Competition)

I really think about why that M4 let my wife get car sick...

In the past I always put very stiff suspension on my cars in the past 15 years... Why my wife didn't complain about getting car sick???

I guess that M4 could be a little under-damped... On race tracks a little under-damped is better than well-damped...(because damping could reduce grip and race tracks are very smooth in general) A little under-damped is very good on race tracks but not so good(more bouncy) on public roads...

I think M4 engineers' developing goal may only concern about the NUMBER which is lap time... That's why my wife kept saying "Be mindful! Be mindful!" at that day... Be mindful WHAT??? Be mindful of YOUR PASSENGER!!!

Nice to hear your thought!

You covered a wide range of topics in detail, really enjoy the read!

Again... I'm NOT always right. I just like to provide some different views on these Japanese cars... I admit I'm a Japanese car lover because of their much better reliability...

I also like to talk about cars... I always buy Japanese cars for the last 30 years... Now I think it's about time to share some of my experiences on them...

Again I'm still thinking about that M4...

It's really surprising to me my wife felt very uncomfortable on that M4 because she never complain on my previous modified cars including 2000 Maxima in Taiwan...(But she thinks Bilstein PSS10 is a bit too stiff... ) Why? Why? Why?

I think it could be the dampers... The dampers on M4 are from Sachs which is only SO SO at aftermarket performance suspensions... I think my previous very stiff suspension from KW, Koni and Bilstein should provide much better damping force than that Sachs... Those stiff and also smart performance dampers can provide extra transit support (for only about 1 second... ) which could slow down those movement initiated by steering, throttle, brake changes... And that critical 1 second slow down could let passengers feel much more comfortable and also let the driver feel more confident...

I really think those aftermarket performance dampers should be VERY VERY good... Yes. They are stiff but they also provide very good damping force which you cannot image...

PS: Dampers only can provide transit support... For constant supports like reducing body rolls you need stiffer springs and sway bars...

I also think GSF chassis and suspension is very very good because it also adopt Sachs dampers but my wife doesn't feel any discomfort when I drive spiritedly on mid to high G mountain roads...

She also said on mountain roads my GSF felt also more stable and comfortable than my previous 2007 G35S installed with very stiff suspension PSS10... For me my GSF is just like a MAGIC created by those Toyota engineers...

Of course I will still install Ohlins on my GSF to build my best "Ultimate Driving Machine" in my life....

Yes. It will definitely be stiffer but it also rewards me more immediate response, more clear steering, more confident handling and very stable, super car like ride...

The new modified ride should be much better then M4, better than Porsche and as good as Ferrari, I think...

In fact I also expect my new Ohlins suspension should be more comfortable than all my previous aftermarket suspensions although Ohlins comes with stiffer springs... So Ohlins should be more stiff and also more comfortable...

More stiff and more comfortable... It sounds impossible... Yes it does. But if Ohlins is that good, then it could become another MAGIC for me... Wish me luck!!!

Due to this unexpected experience on that M4 I think I will totally change my views on these European performance cars...

I may be wrong... But, those European performance cars must be a bit different from what I expect by watching those expert reviews from the videos...

About four years ago I borrowed my relative's 320 for one week in Taiwan... I was not impressive at all... I also tested a 528(F10)... It felt like a boat... Do European cars really have better chassis and suspension? I doubt it now...

I think those European cars are just different... different from our Japanese cars...

I just asked my wife "Our previous 2000 Maxima(also installed with Koni Yellow dampers and H&R springs) in Taiwan and 2018 M4... Which ride is better?" She said "Maxima is better!!!"

Wow! I don't think M4 could be that bad... I think BMW engineers tune that M4 to under-damped intentionally because they want the fastest lap time from it... As a result, under-damped suspension + immediate throttle/brake response + quick steering = roller coaster ride...

That's right. It's like a roller coaster ride which is exactly what my wife described about that M4 to me from her mouth about one week ago...
