2017 GSF

My insurance company fixed the bad windshield chip. The below is the result...

The small crack is still there but my iphone could not get a focused shot on it as it wasn't very obvious anymore...

I checked torque-vectoring differential on my GSF again. I think it works only during acceleration, just like the AWD from my wife's M35X...

According to the below video, I think Honda's SH-AWD should be similar which means the car have to be "POWER ON" mode(acceleration) if you want SH-AWD become effective...

In my opinion, torque-vectoring differential on my GSF is similar to the AWD's transfer case on my wife's AWD...

AWD's transfer case will send the power (50% at max) to the two front tires if needed.

In torque-vectoring differential, there are TWO transfer cases. And, each transfer cases will send the power to each of the rear tires.

Of course, torque-vectoring differential is much more complicate because the car computer needs to coordinate two transfer cases at the same time based on user input, road condition, g-force, etc.

How about Honda's SH-AWD? I think it should contains at least FOUR transfer cases (for each tires) or even FIVE transfer cases (like M35X's center transfer case)!!! This also means SH-AWD is WAY more complicate than my GSF and my wife's M35X...

That's why in my wife's M35X I only need to replace the ATF fluid for its transfer case at ONE location... However, in my GSF I have to replace the ATF fluid for its torque vectoring differential at TWO different locations... (one for each rear tire)

How about Honda's SH-AWD??? Not sure. 4 or 5 locations??? (Probably not. It's too complicate...)

Actually a transfer case is just a clutch pack on drive shafts which will decide how much the power will be sent to tires...

I just checked Acura MDX maintenance schedule...

It seems that SH-AWD doesn't need any additional maintenance like the torque-vectoring differential from my GSF.

So, actually the maintenance for SH-AWD MDX is even simpler than my wife's M35X. (Why MDX is simpler is the front differential is inside the transmission like many FWD cars)

The below is the summary of the powertrain maintenance.
MXD: transmission(front), transfer(center), differential(rear)
M35X: transmission(front), transfer(center), differential(rear), differential(front)
GSF: transmission(front), differential(rear), transfer(rear left), transfer(rear right)

This morning I also changed the settings for Ohlins DFV (16/12K) suspension from my GSF...

The previous settings were 9F/9R and now they are 9F/11R. The reason why I decided to changed settings is because the rear dampers were TOO STIFF!!! (I didn't find this until I sat on the back seat during a long family trip... )

That's why with 9F/9R my GSF felt a bit oversteering sometimes. (It's fun but could be dangerous if the traction is not good)

With 9F/11R my GSF feels more comfortable. Plus, the steering becomes less aggressive and more linear... (I still do try and error (learning) process on these custom suspensions...)

9F/11R is actually still very aggressive... (Fun but still comfortable for less than an hour trips)

For long family trips, I would change it to 10F/13R. In addition, my wife or daughter will also drive my GSF. So, the less aggressive setting is SAFER!!!
