I own a 2017 GSF now but I just rented a 2018 M4 (Competition)

Let's talk about GSF's steering AGAIN...

I think I find another point I don't really like on my GSF beside very little initial delay from its soft springs...

That's its steering. Actually if you check many reviews from Internet GSF steering is VERY GOOD but for me I don't like that much...

Let me tell you why?

Its steering feedback is good but not strong enough for my taste... Sometimes I have difficulty in find its center point... I wish it can be more clear and obvious...

Its steering feedback is very good(clear and solid) on mid to high G mountain roads but not so good on straight roads and low G curvy roads especially if the speed is below 100km/h...

I also find if its speed is over 100 or 120 km/h, the higher speed will increase down force and compress its springs more to become stiffer... Then I receive more steering feedback....

So two ways to increase more steering feedback...
1. more G
2. more speed, more wind, more down force

I think I will definitely install stiffer springs to increase more steering feedback from my GSF just like my previous modified G. Otherwise I will never be happy...

PS: In my opinion stiffer suspension should only improve agility on straight roads and low G turns in my GSF.... In mid to high G turns stiffer suspension will NOT help (because right now my GSF doesn't have any body roll and its steering/handling is as good as M4 in high G turns even though its springs are much softer...) I also think its swaybars do a excellent job... (I don't know how Toyota engineers make it... I guess it may be caused by its very good swaybars and very rigid body...)

I really think GSF chassis is really GOOD... How can Toyota engineers make softer and more comfortable suspension cars can be felt so good, stable, flat and sharp on high G mountain roads....

Again, I have no complaints on its high G situations... I only have complaints on cruising...(and initial delay) It may sound strange but is true...

PS: Sometimes I think the steering feel from 2018 Maxima I tested two weeks ago was quite good... When cruising I think that Maxima steering could be sharper than my GSF...

Again, I think all I need is not a sport car but a race car...

I don't drive that fast but I DO enjoy those much more clear, accurate and immediate driving feel from race cars...

GSF is good on high G roads but if the road like many short S shape roads, then GSF will NOT be fast.... Why? I have to get through that little initial delay(due to soft springs) every time I change its direction from right to left or left to right...

On my previous modified G that weight transfer due to direction changes almost NON-EXIST!!! (also including hard braking and accelerating...although GSF weight transfer is very minimal even comparing with M4)

The below is for Q50 3.7 with 225 tires. As you can see there is very little difference between T/C on and off...

I also tested the same 2014 Q50 with TC on as below...

2014 Q50 3.7 3/4 fuel tank (tested 5 years ago)
5.67
5.67
5.76

I do believe if this Q50 comes with 245 performance tires in the rear like my previous 2007 G35S, its number should be at least 5.3 if not faster...

With T/C on I think M4 is about as fast as Q50 3.7 from 0 to 96 km/h...

But, after that M4 will begin to be faster and a bit faster than Q50, OF COURSE... (because it's a highly praised and benchmark performance car from German... )

You may think VQ35HR in my previous G is as fast as VQ37VHR in Q50...

I think Q50 3.7 is still faster than my previous G because that Q50 3.7 I tested was very new. It will be faster and faster when it's getting more mileages...

I think VQ37VHR is better than VQ35HR especially at low rpm response... In addition 7 speed auto will also increase high speed performance (above 150 km/h)... My previous G comes with 5 speed auto...

Both my GSF and my wife's M35X are getting faster and faster every year even though my wife's M is already 10 year old...

I also think my previous 13 year old G with 200k kms is still very fast and faster than my wife's M (only 80k kms)...

Believe it or not...

That M4 is as expensive as my GSF... But, almost everyone thinks M4 is a much better performance car... Almost no one thinks Toyota can make good performance cars... You usually can get good discount on GSF... As a result GSF usually costs a bit cheaper...

If you can accept used GSF(but still low mileage), then GSF price could be as cheap as new Q50... (It could be from low trim 300hp Q50 to high trim 400hp Q50. It depends on year and mileage on GSF) And I'm pretty sure used GSF will be as reliable as new GSF if you buy one from dealers...

PS: I do NOT think used M4 is as reliable as new M4... (in fact even new M4 is NOT reliable after only a few years...)
