I still think there should be a minimum engine capacity that is proportion to it's power output.

With direct injection and reduced engine size and even if you can muster the same maximum power output ..... in the low rev range, you'll still feel the lack in power.

I doubt people driving on the streets manually keep their cars on-boost or constantly drive in the 4000~6000rpm range!

The smaller engine would mean lost of power for everyday driving!

How much saved on petrol and registration tax is another thing!

直噴引擎能夠進一步提高壓縮比,增加低轉扭力跟改善渦輪遲滯,這就是目前引擎設計的主流。雖然極低轉速域可能還是很虛,但只要超到2000RPM大多都可以得到足夠的出力。
雖然動力輸出的線性還是不如NA車,但以1.6T代替2.0T或2500 NA確實比較環保,且符合經濟效益。

I think this is their focus now.
No longer are they trying to create cars with more power, 200~300hp is all they aim for.
Anything more is just not that practical for everyday driving I guess.

另有一說是SUBARU開發這顆1.6T直噴引擎是為了要回到WRC...
希望將來還可以看到六連星在rally場上狂奔
