Led by the Outback model, Subaru continues to rack up higher sales numbers than last year.
A report released this morning by Subaru of America Inc. shows the automaker sold 23,667 vehicles last month — a whopping 35 percent increase over the 17,505 units sold in May of 2009.
Among vehicles manufactured at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. plant in Lafayette:
• Sales of the Outback climbed 124 percent, to 7,630 units.
• Sales of the Legacy rose by 19 percent, to 3,586 vehicles.
• Sales of the Tribeca fell by 66 percent, to 226.
Among Subaru models built in Japan, sales of the Forester rose by 29 percent, to 7,976 units, while the Impreza posted a fractional increase on sales of 4,249 units.
Year-to-date, Subaru total sales have risen by 40 percent over the first five months of 2009, to 104,359 units.
