如果需要驗尿液酸鹼值，是根據尿酸的化學性質 pKa1(=5.5)為參考依據估算出來的。
假如尿液中只含尿酸/尿酸鈉不含其他物質，理論上是可以用化學課本中提到的酸鹼平衡原理計算。
pH = pKa (5.5) 時，酸(尿酸)與酸根(尿酸鈉)的比例為1:1。
pH 增加就會增加酸根的比例，請參考附上的醫學資料。
但是，尿液中除了尿酸與尿酸鹽之外還有其他物質，得去做研究才可知道實際狀況應該如何。
尿液酸鹼性除了影響尿酸/尿酸鹽比例之外，還會有其他的影響。
調整尿液酸鹼值是否適當，建議要找醫師討論看看。
如果容易發生尿道炎，更要聽從醫師的建議，不要自己亂調整。
測定pH最好就是找個廣泛試紙而且有個比色圖表可供對照的試紙較佳。
一般的水質測試試紙經過標準液測定評估就可知道適不適合使用，要精準一點當然是選擇高精度的試紙。

類似這種，但要有對照pH的顏色圖表。
最好是用醫院的尿液檢測(urine chemistry)專用試紙，可以找診所、藥局幫忙或Google就可查到。
