TECH ALERT October 22 2008 Replacing spoke-hole plugs with rim tape DURA-ACE WH-7850-C24-CL clincher wheels
We have found that Shimano Dura-Ace WH-7850-C24-CL wheels have a greater likelihood of suffering a puncture. This is due to the surface texture of the rim and spoke-holes coming in contact with the inner tube.
The condition can be easily eliminated by replacing the spoke-hole plugs with genuine 18 mm high pressure Shimano rim tape.

As a result, Shimano has issued a tech advisory asking all affected consumers to switch to full rim tape which will be supplied free of charge by their local dealer or distributor. All wheels currently and recently shipped will reflect the running change.
