Seven riders will race in the next Tour de France with the new 11-speed Record groupset.
Campagnolo has developed its 11-speed groupsets in great secrecy over the last three years and got professional riders to test them as always, but well away from the spotlights of great races this time. Chorus 11, Record 11 and Super Record 11 were to be a surprise and so it was.
The three groupsets are completely new: higher performance, more precise, faster and with 11 speeds. The moment has now come to exploit these undisputable advantages in the most important race, the Tour de France. All three have been designed for competition use and the technical solutions implemented are in fact the same for Chorus, Record and Super Record. What differentiates the three groupsets are the materials used and what unites them is the aim: to win.
To confirm what we have just said, Campagnolo decided to supply its champions with the second of the three groupsets, the Record 11.
The seven champions who will race with the Record 11 are:
Alessandro Ballan - Lampre
Stin Devolder - Quick Step
Laurent Lefèvre - Bouygues Telecom
Robbie McEwen - Silence-Lotto
Maxime Monfort - Cofidis
Oscar Pereiro - Caisse d'Epargne
Manuel Quinzato - Liquigas
The seven champions will use a 53/39 crankset with 11-25 and 12-27 sprocket sets.
