Car carrier Glovis Spring runs aground on the Paracel islands of the South China Sea Monday, February 26, 2018, 07: 00h The Car Carrier Glovis Spring ran aground in the waters of the Paracel Islands, located in the South China Sea while sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong.
Of the little information that has traced on the event, it has been known that the shipowner hired two rescue companies to refloat the vessel, including a Chinese one, which is unknown if it has been achieved.
It should be noted that the maritime area of the Paracel islands is a kind of 'black hole' for the navigation systems of ships, without AIS signals of the ships that are in the area, nor communication by satellite and many interferences in the Radar. All this because the People's Liberation Army of China considers it a restricted area of high military value as it is a territory claimed by several States and therefore there is a system in the islands that inhibits the electromagnetic signals
The Chinese government has imposed censorship on the event and there is no information available from the date of the grounding.
